Getting Cough Relief from Lagundi Leaves and Lukewarm Water

Lagundi leaves

Good morning! I woke up with a bad cough so I boiled some water, add some leaves of Lagundi and took the concoction. I felt relieved. After a while I logged into myLot to keep myself awake so I could continuously sip some lukewarm water. I have proven lukewarm water as a very effective way of pacifying itchy throat. I will drink lukewarm water only the whole day and this Lagundi concoction 3 to 4 times within the day and for sure this cough will not last. Thank God I need not resort to synthetic medication. How do you feel today? Do you have natural solution for cough to share?

This is wonderful that you have these leaves and cures at your disposal my friend. It is in your garden? I have nothing like that around here..so I have to take a cough drop or make some black tea with honey and lemon and eat garlic.

I hope you get well soon. I've never heard of lagundi, but I gargle with warm salt water for sore throats or use natural honey for coughs.

Thank you Dianne! Warm salt water has healing power indeed. Natural honey is very good as well but I find it so hard to find a real pure one here.

Those trees do not grow in our country. I drink warm water with honey and lemon to stop the cough.

I guess Lagundi grows in tropical countries only. Warm honey and lemon is great. I've proven that too, it is just that I find it really hard to find pure honey in our country.

Hi Kimberly, it is moderately cold here and feels so good. Being in a tropical country, this tastes like a real treat because this kind of weather happens only from December to February. We have only two seasons, the Dry and the Wet season but it looks like the weather is all messed up, it rains whatever time of the year, and the rain shines whenever it desires.

Nothing added, just pure lagundi concoction for me although my husband adds some pandan leaves to enhance the aroma and flavor.

@salonga that is truly a good remedy for cough. for us here, sometimes we just boil leaves of, for example, guava if there is a wound that needs to be washed. we decoct the leaves.

I learned a home remedy from you today. The problem though is, where to find lagundi leaves here. Good thing, I don't get cough and colds for how many years now. Knock on wood.

I am doing well and have had no colds over the winter yet, I use a product made in the USA I heard about years ago on TV, they tested it on college kids and it works like a charm. It has zink in it and I buy it in the states and keep it here at home all the time. When I'm around someone with a cold I pop one in my mouth and I never catch someone else's cold, its been a long time since I've had a cold . Hope your cold is short and sweet.

The lukewarm water is a good idea. I don't know of lagundi but perhaps it's grown here. I'd need to research it.

Ginger with honey is my natural solution for hoarse voice. Honey with garlic or lemon is also very good for cough. Oregano leaves make a very good cough relief as well. I have lots of them in my garden.
