And since we wanted to witness the fireworks because it was starting at 11:30 PM, all of us at home opted to have the media noche early at 11:30. My oldest brother, the 2nd sibling, went up ahead in his room since he was not feeling well (he has productive cough and slight fever) so my son took this picture of the 4 of us starting to eat the very first meal of 2018. Do you take your media noche at the stroke of midnight?

Nope I didn't eat anything during the New Year, I was just saving it for break fast. But mom came back from church and bought some pasta along.

Happy new year Ate... We always have our media noche a few minutes after 12 because my father and brother also light some fireworks and we watch our fireworks and those of the neighbors... I also take time to jump. Hihihi

Didn't have media noche this year. Stayed up to watch fireworks at the tv and then watched a televised Mass. Ate some grapes a little past 1 in the morning.

No we didn't. We were at the temple to pray at the stroke of midnight.

@ridingbet Was the best new year's eve for us. We were with the people who mattered.

We had a normal dinner around 8 PM and then watched a movie, but we were tired and we did not wait for midnight. It was snowing yesterday, no fireworks and no noises, very peaceful. The best start of the year I can remember.

@ridingbet The young people went out to celebrate, they do not fear the weather.

knowing that snow was falling at midnight is like a picturesque scene of a white Christmas and new year, and it was quiet as well. probably, many stayed inside to enjoy the fireplace.

my 4th sibling is also down with nasal stuffiness, but a nurse as he is, he self-manages it with liberal amount of fluid intake and keeping himself warm

@aureliah that is just a simple nasal congestion/stuffiness. even if we are not nurses, we can do some home remedies to manage that condition.

i think lighting fireworks is inherent whenever there are festivities. and i remember a big and giant ball that goes down at the countdown of 2018. what state is this happening? i think it is in New York? please correct me if i am wrong.

My family and I just snacked after an early dinner and then we watched shows on tv. I hope your brother is feeling better by now and that you will all have a blessed year.

What is media noche?

oh i thought you know about this? i read from your profile that you are knowledgeable in some areas? media noche is from a Spanish phrase which means mid of the night or midnight. it is eating in the midnight of December 31 and January 1. in contrast to noche buena, this is taken in the midnight of December 24 and 25.
