Hey everyone! I hope you are doing amazing today! If you are not I would love to pray for you! =) So, this morning I was praising God-on fire and listening to Todd White. I literally felt the Holy Spirit come over me and say surrender it all. I started crying because I knew exactly what God was saying-He spoke so loud to my heart. The one thing I kept trying to keep a hold of. Too bad it had a hold of me. Today-not because of a New Year-but because of a New Me in the Lord I quit smoking. I love God so much that my addiction had to go. My body is a temple for God, it's not mine to damage-it's His. So, this New Year I am a New Me-I have surrendered ALL to God and I am so excited and on fire about it!! God is so awesome! I could not quit on my own-I promise you that. If I am being honest I didn't want to quit, I liked smoking. I thought the only way I would ever quit is if I got the "C" diagnosis-but God had other plans for me! God said it's time to give it up. Now, smoking will be a distant memory. It doesn't hurt, doesn't feel bad, I'm not angry--its the total opposite!! I feel amazing, I am beaming, I am excited and full of God's love! My only addiction is loving God now! New Year-New Me-Same Amazing God

Good for you Jenn, that is really wonderful that you were able to come to this decision. I quit smoking, not because I wanted to, because I also enjoyed the relaxation that it gave me, but I had that diagnosis of the big C. I pray that my husband will be able to give up the habit. I am so afraid of losing him over a heart attack or stroke as a result of years of the habit. I hope that the Holy Spirit continues to work within you for the good. God Bless Jenn.

@Juliaacv Oh trust me-this was not my decision. Lol. I had no desire to quit. God had other plans for me and my life though. I will pray for your husband that the Holy Spirit touches him so strongly that he no longer desires his addiction! God is amazing and He can change anyone-believe that 100%!

@LovingMyBabies Thank you. I have been praying for Ron to quit because I am afraid of him dying suddenly as his father did.

I'm happy you are quitting, and hope you don't get any urges to start again. Goodluck. My cousin said she needs to stop, but only because drom all the smoking and coffee everyday, she now needs almost all her top teeth pulled out and she can get infections or something if she smokes afterwards. Idk but glad she'll finally stop.

@celticeagle My habit didn't interfere with my parenting. When we didn't have food, I did not smoke. Thanks so far so good.

Oh wow, I didn't know you were a smoker! But that's awesome that you gave up the habit! I'm proud of you! Is Johnny a smoker too? If so, I hope you encourage him to quit with you so it won't be a temptation on you to pick it back up!

@moffittjc Yeah my one and only bad habit I had. Thank You, God didn't give me a choice. Lol. It was His timing. Nope, Johnny used to dip but he quit a couple months ago. =)

@moffittjc Aw thank you! I am doing well with it. My carnal mind has been telling me lies but I am shutting them up as soon as I hear them. Lol. I have been staying in the word, worshiping God and listening to sermons. =) The mental aspect is the only hard part but I am doing okay. I would love support and prayers-that would be amazing!!

@LovingMyBabies How are you doing with the quitting process? Are you hanging in there? Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you or encourage you! I remember when my dad quit smoking many years ago. He just came home one day and said "I'm quitting smoking. Going cold turkey." And he did. Just like that. Gave it up and never looked back.

That is great that you (with Jesus' help) can stop smoking cold turkey! Some people have such a hard time quitting that they need that "patch" to help them quit.

@Leapea2417 Thank you! Trust me this was not my decision. I had NO desire to quit smoking to be honest, none. It felt like part of who I am. However, God literally said no more! I feel AMAZING because I am filled with His spirit! =)

Its amazing how what you just said reiterates what the pastor said at church yesterday. I had been looking for a church home for a while now. Found a place yesterday and since being there their all kinds if little messages/ reminders of the sermons!

@LovingMyBabies That is so great. I have two daughters that recently gave up smoking also. I'm proud of everyone who quits. I quit when I got pregnant, and I never thought I could, It's been 30 years now, and I'm so glad I did. Everyday (or whenever you want), you can start telling everyone how long it's been since you were smoke free.
