As we enter the New Year you will likely hear many people and sources making predictions about the New Year. From astrology believers, to commentators, to mystics, to media outlets, all of them will try to predicit events in 2018 and beyond. Some events may even become true. Well, here are a few phenomenal historical events I found in a Reader's Digest article that were prognosticated and actually did happen. 1. Cell phones and Wi-fi- predicted by Nikola Tesla, Edison's right-hand man and inventor of alternating electrical current in 1909. 2. Men landing on the Moon- predicted by Jules Verne, the science fiction author, who wrote about it in his 1865 novel "From Earth To The Moon." He even had his rocket launch from Florida. 3. Ear Buds- Ray Bradbury foretold earbuds in 1953. The American author wrote about these mininature headphones in a poetic passage. 4. Mark Twain forcasts his own death- the author was quoted as saying 'I came in with Halley's comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don't." He died on April 21, 1910, the day after the comet returned. 5. Arthur C. Clark imagined the iPad in 1968- in his novel "2001: A Space Oddssey." Clark's description of a newspad was extremely accurate. By plugging the Newspad into the ship's information circuit they could scan the latest reports from Earth. Seems those writers had some imagination. Or did they? I find it amazing ideas expressed in their writings became usable realistic devices in the future. And the inventor Tesla's view of cell phones and Wi-fi was prophetic. I am not so surprised by the inventions as I am the forcasters. Who needs a psychic! Do you remember any person who forcasted a similar amazing future event or invention which came true? Have you heard of any unusual predicitions made in 2018? Source- Readers Digest Photo- U Tube/google images

@teamfreak16 I remember going to Disney World's Land of Tomorrow. Monorails came to be but the flying cars they predicted never happened?

Those were all really interesting. THanks for sharing. Actually I read that once upon a time sci-fi was supposed to be possible - as in not proven to be impossible, something that could actually happen based on current research

There is a lot to be said about science fiction and events becoming reality.

Yes, these events did eventually occur thanks mostly to inventors and technology.
