For those suffering through some winter weather right now I feel your pain. We in New Jersey (U.S.) are going through blizzard conditions with possibly a foot of snow expected. If you are in my situation you eventually have to venture out to clean the snow off your car. So why not make things a bit easier on yourself. These snow tips I found on U Tube and NJ 101.5 radio should prove beneficial when we all prepare for future storms. 1. Whether you have a cat or not buy kitty litter. It is great traction for your tires when getting stuck in snow/ice. If your on the roadway and without the litter you can also use the cars floor mats as traction for the tires. 2. Do you have any old or mismatched socks in your house? Put them to use by putting them on your wiper blades before a storm. The ice and snow will not stick to them making for an easier cleanup. 3. Make yourself a special spray bottle. Use 3 parts vinnegar vs 1 part water and your set. Pre-treat your windows with the spray to prevent ice from forming. 4. Zip lock bags, say what? Try these bags over your side view mirrors whala...no sticky ice! 5. Stuck on the road with no ice scrapper. Seems a credit card is a viable substitute. And the good thing, using your card for that purpose is free! Or, perhaps you misplaced your ice scrapper with the change of seasons. No problem, just use a plastic spatula from the kitchen. It's not only a cooking aid it's a utensil that will work in a pinch. Hope some of these tips were helpful. I've already tried a few of them for today's East Coast storm. We'll see how they work out. Stay tuned.... Sources- NJ 101.5 FM & U Tube Photo- U Tube

Do you know that the photo you published was taken in Geneva? It was published by a local newspaper, if I remember well two winters ago.

@dgobucks226 It happens almost every year in that part of Switzerland. Many Swiss Alpine towns are isolated now, they got 3 feet of snow in 24 hours.

I noticed it was not from the United States. I did not remember the country. But, it was such an appropriate photo for our current weather conditions. Anyway, it served the purpose in making my point.

@LadyDuck That why there are so many Olympic ski champions in those areas. They probably ski as soon as they can walk, lol. I always admired those athletes ability and dedication.

@JESSY3236 Ok, that is in Central Jersey near Westfield. He probably did not get hit as badly as other areas of NJ by the snow storm.

Depends on his location. Along the coastal areas NJ got hit hard. More inland not so much.

That socks tip is a good one. I hope you didn't get too much snow. Here it's bitterly cold (-14F) but at least we don't seem to get snow when it's this cold

@dgobucks226 At least the snow wasn't heavy like you say. Ah can't win. We're warmer here now (30s - feels tropical) -- but we're supposed to get snow now. Gr.

@FayeHazel As a twilight zone fan you might remember the episode where the sun is apparently heading towards the earth because of a change in orbit and everyone will be doomed. At the episode end the reality is the sun is actually moving away from the earth and the weather is freezing. Moral of the story were in the twilight zone, ha, ha.

For us Faye we got hit pretty good. A foot and a half with bitter cold and wind. Today's wind chill was -6 F this morning. I waited till it got to 14 F to snow blow my driveway clear. Thank goodness the snow was powdery.

Or just do what we do in Kentucky when it snows: stay inside until it melts.

I've lived in Colorado over 30 years and I never knew about the vinegar trick until I read this. I'll have to try it.

I tried it and it definitely helps! The sock idea is the best. Protects your wiper blades and no ice to ruin them. The zip lock idea works great too

Yes, I thought they were very interesting myself in addition to be helpful. Wish I could send some of my snow your way. I could use some relief, lol.
