Today I would share a blog post I did on another site: Literacybase last year. This was special to me, as I conveyed my experiences on some special day(s). I wrote this in early Feb and the incident mentioned is of a cold and rainy January day. Here is a snippet: "Some days back, it was cold and it started raining heavily. It was around 3 P.M in the afternoon. The skies turned dark, and even after one hour, it was still raining. I had to go out to do something. I had hoped that the rains would stop. However, the rains did not stop. So, I had to wear a spare raincoat, take out an umbrella and go out packed with woolens and a cap. It was a tough walk. Some part of my jacket was still exposed to the rains, and it was getting wet. I had to brave cold winds as well. It was very chilly. At that time, my mobile battery was also almost dead. For some time, I was cut-off from the world in sense of real-time communication, and this is something we are constantly striving for in this age of continuous social media exposure. There I felt as if I ought to have had a camera to capture those moments. It would have been something very special to do so. capturing those lonely, rain drenched roads on that chilly evening looked something very exciting for me. Not only that evening, but there have been other instances too, where I did not have a camera, or a phone with camera to capture those moments. ...... Continued........." Now such a day could sound just an everyday routine to some. However, for some, such experiences are not common day, as for I. So what do you have to say on this? Young people have become far too reliant on the use of their mobile phones. It was quite a view when I saw people lined up on the train platform all looking into their mobile phones ignoring what was going on around them totally absorbed by it. One of my colleagues had her phone stolen while she was using it. She replaced it and did exactly the same thing. They are useful to have but not when people are completely absorbed with them!

@garymarsh6 the harsh fact is that many of us and even i to some extent have become slaves to mobiles! And we need to moderate but that part is very tough

@cmoneyspinner yes the hard fact is we are slaves of mobiles now, but we can reduce the exposure time.

There have been rainy days that have produced lovely raindrops and glittering leaves and then I have always been glad I have a camera with me.

Can I ask you about writing for Literacy Base. It looks like you haven't been publishing in over a year. Why did you stop? I stopped because the site disappeared without paying me and when it reappeared I still didn't get paid.
