Time to wrap up this street series of "chestnuts" before moving on to my next series, Favorite Road Songs. So, here are my choices that use "street" as part of the title. See if you recall the name of these songs and artists? -From a Nobel Prize winner, to an artist with a connection to one of the "Eagles" band members, to a Scottish singer-songwriter, today's artists found inspiration from a particular street and put them into song. Here are your clues for today's "Street Songs and Artists:" See if you know any.... 1. This artist earned eleven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award. Quite an accomplishment for this Minnesota born musician. The song's lyrics describe the jealousy he encountered from people in the artistic community who resented his success. The tune's title originated from where the artist was residing in Greenwich village and also where he lived during his fraternity stay at the University of Minnesota. Another interesting fact was this track was recorded during the Highway 61 Revisted album, but was not included on it, instead being saved for a "single only" release. 2. This Detroit area muscian recorded this song with his Silver Bullet Band on his breakout album "Night Moves." The artist wrote this song about his high school years in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The musician was reflecting on growing up from an awkward kid and realizing a sort of "social awakening." The street he was singing about in Ann Arbor was different from the one of his album. There was a bar mentioned In the last song verse, where he would go to listen to R&B bands and listen "to that smokey beat." 3. This artist was going through legal troubles from his split with his former bandmates and sought refuge with a friend in this flat, on this street. In the last vese of this song the artist expresses his exhilaration as his legal and financial frustrations being finally resolved: When you wake up it's a new morning The sun is shining, it's a new morning You're going, you're going home The 1978 song remains a staple of soft-rock radio play. It peaked at #2 on the U.S. billboard Hot 100 charts. Well, that's a wrap for my street songs. And your answers are....? In closing, I do appreciate all who participate, read, and comment on my music trivia posts. As always, thanks for playing! Hope these songs brought back a pleasant memory for some...Use those clues!!!! *Bio info from Wikipedia and songfacts.com Photo- google images/music-Tom Gates

I'm horrible at these things. It make me feel as if I'm in Rock High School taking a quiz. That would be a cool school, because all they would teach is rock music.

Since I was under a rock in my early years, I have no clue who those artists were. Enjoyed reading about them though.
