Grown-Ups Are People Too (a poem)

You may not know this, or maybe you do, But your mom and dad are just like you! They like eating cereal, playing outside, Riding on big, fast amusement park rides, Having parties, playing video games, And watching cartoons. You see? They’re the same. And it’s not just those two. It’s everyone! Everyone in the world likes to have fun. The teacher, the doctor, the mailman, the cop, Even the janitor holding his mop. I can see some of you shaking your heads ‘Cause you don’t believe in the words you just read. “Grown-ups are old, mean, and grouchy,” you say, And I understand why you must feel that way. A lot of grown-ups have lived long and hard lives, Working to care for their husbands and wives. They can’t play as often as they once did, And some forget what it was like to be kids. It’s sad but it’s true, the hardships they endeavor, But good news! They won’t be like this forever. All they need’s a reminder, a small helping hand. To show them the light and help them understand. So the next time you see a grown-up who looks sad, Who looks like they’ve been through some things that are bad, Just think of the lesson this poem taught you, And remember: Grown-Ups Are People Too.

I don't think I'll ever grow up, no matter what my age!! Life is too short to be old & crabby.

Same here. I'm not gonna start pretending fun things aren't fun any time ever.

This is so real. Life can be hard sometimes, and i think people expect us to take it like adults but it's not that simple!

That's one way of interpreting it. Thanks for the insight.
