It Feels Like Stealing

As I mentioned in the earlier discussion, After work on the way home I wanted to stop and do a little shopping and I did. Sometimes it does feel weird to use paper coupons to pay for stuff and not money, Tony once said when he went with me on an extreme shopping trip years ago, (Had over $200 in groceries and I paid the tax only $20) This feels like stealing. But today the items I got at one store was not on sale nor a buy one get one, all full price, I just used coupons to save close to 80% I will just mention one deal here so I can save the other deals and stores for the blog. Store of choice Publix : Two transactions. #1 - 3 bottles of Robitussin cough syrup - 5.99 each = $17.97 Applied competitor coupon - $3.00 off $15.00 or more = $14.97 Used two 3.00 off one manufacturer coupons and one 1.00 off one manufacturer coupon, ADD store coupons 2.00 off one x 3 = 1.97 Add sale tax - 1.50 Total out of pocket = 3.47 #2 - One bottle of Robitussin cough syrup - 5.99 one 1.00 off one manufacturer coupon, ADD store coupons 2.00 off one = 2.99 Two boxes of Alka seltzer cold- 5.29 each = 10.58 Used two 2.00 off one manufacturer coupons, ADD store coupon 3.00 off two = 3.58 Applied competitor coupon - $3.00 off $15.00 or more = 3.57 Add sale tax- 1.36 Out of pocket = 4.93 Grand total for all before coupons was = $37.40 I paid - $8.40 Saving $29 Now that is how I like to restock the medicine cabinet! Got any good deals lately?

My husband bought household supplies (toilet paper, garbage bags, dishwasher detergent, etc) at Walmart this past weekend. That was our version of saving money. Usually I just get them at the grocery store when I do the weekly shop.

@andriaperry Go me. I actually went to Walmart this morning. I found their clothes depressingly thin and their produce limp. I walked out without buying anything so I guess I was cash ahead.

@andriaperry I am just not good in maths re: calculation money and discounts. I usually set those calculations out in spreadsheets. Regardless, you are good. If you were an accountant, you would be quite a formidable one.

I went grocery shopping today but I had no coupons for anything I bought. But since it was Walmart Marketplace, most of the prices were pretty good. I did clip some coupons today including one for Delsym just in case I need it, but I don't use much cough medicine.

Not too many sales on my ticket cause its mostly fresh produce here. There was a money off coupon for the vegie pattys but I'd have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get back fifty cents. Just enough to give me a headache so nah.

Coupons and shopping just came naturally, I actually like to see how cheap, ot free, I can get the item. But only if I use it a lot. I do not do many on food anymore.

Saved 67.29 on our vehicle gas with the store card from what you buy a month. Of course I only get things on sale and try to use the coupons I can find. Can get some good deals on things like toilet paper. I used to do more couponing than I do now. You did good!!!

My coupons have been real duds lately. Any other Sunday circular or library coupons there are coupons for Chex cereal. I have been wanting for weeks now to make Chex Mix Party Mix. No Chex cereal coupons! Chex is expensive and I would need 2 to 3 boxes. Better off buying the already pre-packaged Chex Mix Party Mix.

I am always amazed, as well as perplexed how well you do with this. I am envious. $200 worth of groceries for $20? I better stop complaining about not knowing how to do this and start learning the ins and outs of it.

the best place to learn is couponmom dot com. Hell, she gives you the information twice a week.
