Classroom Discipline

Every teacher has this problem. Hard headed student. I always ask myself how will I survive the day of teaching hard headed students. Surprisingly, I always find a method to discipline my students. Reward and punishment helps me a lot. I am willing to give everything just to help my students. One time, our classroom was too mesy that our trashes were full and overflowing. In my diagust to their behavior, I asked them to get out of the class and I started to stack up the chairs. And that lasted 4 days. Before I let them sit on their chairs again, I asked what were their motivation to clean the room for 5 days. They answered that they were tired on sitting on the floor and I was touced because the room wad clean and orderly. I hope they will bring this lesson til they grow old.

I was a teacher for 40 years. I know that classrooms can look like pigsties! If a classroom was really dirty, I refused to start my lessons. I told the pupils to throw everything they found under their desks onto the floor. We always have two pupils who're responsible for the cleanliness of the classroom for one week. They alternate. These two pupils had to fetch a broom and a shovel and clean the floor. Often the bin overflowed with the trash they collectedI Occasionally, I let all the rubbish lie on the floor before a teacher / parents meeting. The parents were shocked when they arrived. I told them that it was their children who were responsible for this and that they had no problems creating such a mess in one day. In the area where I live the locals are proud of being exceptionally clean. They were ashamed when they saw what their children did outside the house.

Thanks for the idea. I guess I need to let the parents see the classroom of the their children.

@Krischun13 Do that! If you clean the classroom and create a nice atmosphere, they'll never understand. Have you also got a board under the desks where the pupils can put their schoolbags? The pupils mostly keep their schoolbags on the floor, though, and collect trash under their desks. Tilt the desks before the parents come and leave everything on the floor! Especially disgusting are handkerchiefs full of snot and the peels of oranges. Argh! Please add your country on your account page.

That was really good. I wish I tried that on my students too. I always tried the reward one. For example, I used to give chocolates and stars, etc for the most overall disciplined student. That thing really worked for me as mine were primary class students.

@Krischun13 That's a good idea. I'll surely suggest it to some of my friends in teaching profession as I left it last year. How long have you been in this profession?

I think you just have to give them little responsibilities like cleaning up their desk every after activity. That way, you also teach them to be responsible.

Clever way of telling the students the importance of cleanliness. Instead of yanking and yanking that is one good way to discipline the kids.

Naughty students needs a lesson sometimes too. Teachers need to discipline naughty students in a way that they will learn their lesson and may never do the same naughtiness again.

Thing is, after every punishment, I explain to them what is the reason behind their punishment.
