Trying to catch up today on some of my posts. Here are some events for Jan. 14th.
1784: The U.S. ratified a peace treaty with England, ending the Revolutionary War.
1858: French emperor, Napoleon lll escaped an attempt on his life.
1953: Josip Broz Tito was elected president of Yugoslavia.
1963: George Wallace was sworn in as governor of Alabama with a pledge of "segregation forever."

The imperial coach was armored with iron and Napoleon III did not had a scratch during the 1858 attack, but it used it to have a law voted against republicans, and banned or deported several hundreds of people who had been granted an amnesty 5 years before and had nothing to do with the attack. Makes me think at your ban on Muslims targeting refugees.
