I watch the news every couple of days, mostly for the local weather forecast so I can plan my week, but of late I just left it playing. A couple of months ago the news station began to put the map of the USA up and color red the worst states suffering from the flu this year. Well I had not seen that chart in, hmmm.... about a month. I seen it last night and all states are now colored red, there is a serious outbreak and the only state that has escaped the epidemic is Hawaii. The worst part is the people who are just riding it out is coming down with pneumonia. So this means, well for a lot of people, the USA will be buying a lot of medicine and will be sick well into the Spring. Do not hesitate to get an x-ray and make sure you take care, this is serious and its really bad. Have you escaped being sick this season?

I have some crud at the moment causing a sore throat and a cough. It isn’t strep or the flu though so I’m just dealing with it.

I haven't had the flu in over 10 years. I knock on wood for that as I do not get the flu shot. You have had it already I believe so I think you will be okay from catching it back. I think you build up immunities once you have had that exact strain.

@andriaperry From what I saw it is through out most states. Hubby was home today sick, I thought oh no!!!! However he is doing better. I think he has just been over doing it and it caught up with him. Made him just lay down and sleep most of the day. He said he is feeling pretty good now.

I had a bad cold in October that seemed to drag on for a long time. I recovered and have been healthy since then. This week my granddaughter was sick as well as my daughter. Now they both have pneumonia. Hopefully they recover quickly...but my daughter in on immu-suppressants so this is more worrisome for her.

I don't have flu and I hope I won't get one. I read in one of the famous celebrity here this morning that she has stomach flu and it's common these days in our country including flu too. I think it helps that I boost my immune system by taking lemon water every morning and drinking green tea.

Both my husband and I were sick for about three weeks, but we are pretty well over the respiratory thing we had. I'm still taking it easy and I do have chicken soup in both refrigerator and freezer in case either of us starts to relapse. I'm staying home and away from crowds as much as possible and drinking lots of fluids. We are both trying to keep our immune systems strong.

@andriaperry That's wise. But I confess I like to stay home even when I'm well and don't need to avoid people who may be contagious. The older I get, the more I like to stay home.

I keep catching colds but don't think I've had the flu. I feel like I'm coming down with something again though. Hope it's not the flu. I can't take flu or cold medicine with my prescription meds. Plus, I'm supposed to have surgery in the next month, so I don't want to get really sick and have to postpone it even longer.

@andriaperry Thanks, I was out in the stores again today and am keeping my fingers crossed I didn't pick up anything. My sister had the flu about a month ago and I managed not to catch it from her...knock wood.

@andriaperry Thanks so much. I appreciate that. We were at a musical last night, and the man sitting in front of us told us he was so sick. Ugh! He coughed and blew his nose throughout the show. I dislike germs!!!!!

It's really scary, I haven't been sick this year, and I contribute that to two things, my huge fruit intake and my fear of going into so many places, that I mainly stay at home now.

I was slacking on sanitizing my hands each time I got back to the car, BUT Tony is the one who caught it and brought it home!

No, I work with children and they share their germs freely. Parents will not keep them home, kids will not stay in bed and rest. I got pneumonia. I did not have the flu but a cold virus. When hubby started coughing he went on a regimen of elderberry concentrate in the evenings. He never got more than the cough. Elder flower tea and elderberry concentrate may be some of the things you need for your off the grid life.

I think when the weather is so cold, it couldn't be helped that many people will be sick with coughs and colds. I seldom get that , maybe because I am taking 1000 mg of ascorbic acid everyday. I don't know if it's that.

I'm sure so many will continue to view the news. No television in my room so therefore there could some information heard when passing towards the kitchen or taking out the trash.

That sounds terrible, we are having a bad flu season here in Canada also. We are about in the middle of it currently. This year's strain of it is brutal. I didn't have the flu this year but had a really bad cold that lasted for about a month.
