An incredible story of a next door neighbor who risked his life to save someone from a burning build happened on Friday morning in Wiggins Mississippi. James Knight saw a burning building that was occupied by Janet Fairley who was stuck inside the home that was on fire around 6 o' clock in the morning.. Janet was trying to get out of the burning building by getting out of a window when James grabbed her to get out of her burning home. When James was able to get Janet out of the burning home by a window, they both fell down as Janet collapsed from inhaling smoke from the fire. Then a second neighbor named Tim grabbed and James grabbed Janet away from the burning house since it had a propane tank in the back that would explode if the fire touched it. Wiggins Fire Chief Jody Hatten said something to the effect that thanks to the quick thinking of James Knight and Tim who was the other neighbor, the life of Janet Fairley was spared. Janet was taken to Jackson Medical Center burn unit for treatment for smoke inhalation. 18 Firefighters from several communities in Stone County assisted the firefighters in Wiggins to put out the fire. To make this story even sweeter was the cat of Janet was saved as well. The probable cause of the fire may have been a space heater that was too close to furniture even though the cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
