Is This Really Florida?

After spending almost three weeks in New Jersey in the freezing cold, I think the cold weather followed us home as it has been in the low 60's everyday since we are home. Today we actually put the heat on as it was below 60 in the house. It was the first time the heat was on since we moved here over a year and a half. It is suppose to stay cool for awhile. I love it but it just doesn't feel right. I feel sorry for the people that came down here for a nice warm winter vacation.

I really like 60 as I can wear some of my clothes that I had in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I would rather have it cool and wear heavier clothes than to be so hot that I change my clothes often.

@Courtlynn During the summer when it is so hot here I am constantly doing laundry as I sweat so much.

Better get ready, because temperatures are going to plummet again this week. They say it could get as low as 22 (-5C) here in Gainesville on Wednesday night! Obviously, it won't get as cold where you are, but still, that's just way too cold for Florida! And what's really weird, is that our temperatures here in Florida over the past week have been colder than those in the UK. Go figure!

@ramapo17 The same thing seems to happen every year when spring break starts for all the college students. They flock to Florida by the millions looking for sun, sand and warmth. It never fails that we get freak late-season cold fronts that come through and ruin many spring breakers plans!

@moffittjc I am sure there are a lot of students that get disappointed when that happens. They wait all year long for that break.

We were there for several weeks last year and mostly had great weather. However, some days were in the 30s, which is a surprise for those not familiar with Florida. Somewhere we have photos of snow on our car (in 2014 I think) when we were there. Yes, it happened and no doubt will happen again!

Florida did have snow this year already and might have more again this week. Very strange weather.

As you say, it's a pity about people coming there for a holiday expecting really warm weather.

@aureliah The humidity is what really gets me feeling worn out.

It is easier to get warm in the cool weather than to get cool in the hot weather.

That wouldn't be very warm by the beach, but at least it's better than the North.

You will think me nuts.....this afternoon at my place it was warm and totally delicious outside. I think it got to 48 above. Crazy warm for January and oh we loved it. We got a few things done on the place just cause it felt so grand to be outside in the sun.

I can imagine that. I get more done outside when it is cooler out than hot and humid.

It has been cooler than usual, but it sure beats the temps up north. We love it, and the temps are climbing, which we also love.

I hope so although I do like the cooler weather as the humidity really gets to me when it gets hot.

My mother is in Florida for 6 weeks and it has been pretty cold the whole time she's been there. Better then below zero like we have here in PA though I think.
