buckle up, kiddos

It's going to be a rocky ride! The howling wind broke the electric this morning. I had just got up and was sleepily indulging in some absolution in the bathroom, when the world was plunged into darkness. Some kind Being fixed the electric, giving me time to wash, dress, prettyfy, eat, drink, comfort the puddy-cats {there, there. It's just some nasty bluster, I declared, perhaps more to comfort myself than them} before the wind turned the lights out again as I was brushing my teeth. The electric was still broken when I left home, with the old world only giving way to the new upon reaching the High Street. Their electric wasn't broken. The wind nudged me along, house alarms bursting my eardrums and recyclables skittering past, laughing their merry way into hedges; it's blue bin day and the un-savvy folk stupidly put their bins out last night. It looks like some of the bins have been out partying all night {ooh, an aside - just seen my first tree casualty of the morning strewn across half a country lane}, fallen over, vomited, and simply slept where they fell. Naughty bins. These Flatlands of England are not the place to be when it's windy. The bus has been knocked about and buffeted from side to side. But we are halfway to the city now and we have not yet had a lorry topple on us, a tree fall on us, or a car slam into us. Life is good. Happy Day!

Be careful today. It's forecast for yet more strong gusts of up to 80mph throughout the day in your neck of the woods. Are you sure they were all bins? Some of them might have been students!!!

Students from the city rarely venture into these rural lands!

Wind is something I do not like. We had wind yesterday, but bearable. I have seen images of the north of Switzerland that were scary. I would have not liked to be on those cabins up in the mountains, shaken by the wind. I wonder why people go skiing taking such great risks.

I saw that The Netherlands and Germany fared worse than England today. How about your neck of the woods? Did the wind reach you? I'm not keen on wind. It seems harmless but it's far from it!

@Poppylicious The winds reached the north of Switzerland, here in the south it was not too bad. This morning the sky is clear and blue, but it's cold.

High winds have blown the roof off somewhere in the World and I am not sure where it is but it took the whole roof of the building with it. I was coming out of the Kitchen and it was on for a few seconds think they said it was Holland or Denmark however not sure but the roof sure did fly like a kite for a bit.

@Poppylicious So I was not so far off then and hope they can get their roofs fixed soon as it took off in one piece and never seen it happen like that before. Winds here are a bit calmer now.

Yes, apparently the Netherlands and Germany did have it far worse.

I like the feeling of being almost swept off my feet. Not so keen on the feeling of the bus nearly being swept into the side of a lorry though!

It's windy and cold here. I'm listening to the wind roar in my chimney. I haven't looked outside....but know that in the morning I'll see the usual mess wrought by the excessive winds. Luckily we rarely lose our power when it's stormy.

In the end our electricity was knocked out for most of the day, which is highly unusual. We haven't had a power cut lasting that long for about ten years.

I've never really been a fan of Winnie the Pooh. I'm not sure why.

It was nothing to fret about. Just a bit of silly windy. It's gone now, thankfully!
