Schooling Long Ago

Years ago, there were no laptops. If you wanted to attend a college or university, you had to physically attend, unless you took a home study using the U.S. Mail for course work. Schooling was expensive and not everyone was lucky enough to get a grant or scholarship. Since I graduated, things have really changed. For the better! Free on-line courses from respected schools. No strings attached.. When I do have a chance, I am going to take some courses. Why not? If you want to do something new, improve yourself, improve your resume, etc here is a list: Keep me posted!
Here you will find a list of some of the top schools in the country, all offering online education programs.

I did two university units by correspondence once. I think they were free. Thanks for the link. That's really interesting and I guess Aussies can apply. I haven't looked at the site yet.

I'm so over college. I have a list of degrees a mile long. Great list, btw! My husband was a professor, so I was able to continue my education for free, except for lab fees and books.

@Spontaneo Yale. My friend set up an online program. She teaches art history. NYU would be my second choice. Oh, and Cornell!!!!! My son went there for undergrad and law school.

You are right, when I was young even home schooling was not allowed in my country. Kids had to go to an approved school and if the parents did not send them, they were jailed.

Everything is changing so fast it's hard to keep up with it, even in education.

Thanks for the link!! It's great that we can get free classes that would've cost a fortune and valuable info once offered only to only those who could afford to pay. Will be checking out this link.

It really is amazing! In addition to these full courses, you'll find instructional videos on YouTube for just about anything. Putting on a necktie, changing a lamp switch, repairing a laptop. Those one-off things that you don't have the time to study the theory and just want to quickly knock-off your todo list.

I will have to look into this. I quit pursuing a higher education after obtaining my second Associate's Degree, but I always wanted to keep learning...there just aren't any more classes for me to take at our junior college, and I can't afford to go to a university (nor do I have the transportation to physically get me there.) Thanks for sharing this list.

@Spontaneo I am not computer savvy, instead I know all the basics, enough to function each day.
