That's Texas for ya

I like living in Texas, except maybe for August... However, Texas winters are a bit insane. This week, for example. Monday they were talking snow or ice storm - we got a bit of ice, but not bad. We also got over 30 hours of below freezing temperatures. Tuesday and Wednesday were also both cold, barely getting above freezing. Wednesday the sun was out so we left the dogs out for a few hours. Thursday we got to 45º F, but it was mostly dark and gloomy. Then, this coming Saturday - tomorrow if you are reading this 1-20-18 - it is supposed to get to the low 70's F. Just crazy weather, even for a life long Texan...

I feel ya @ElicBxn . I live halfway between Dallas & Houston on I-45. 9, 12,17 degrees are not my idea of fun; that's why I LEFT Nebraska.

My mother only agreed to move to Texas if Dad got her air conditioning, but I know for a fact that she really didn't miss New Jersey winters!

I live in Texas also, and it was 13 one day this week and Saturday is the same, in the 70's. Texas weather has always been so crazy.

And that's why I have NEVER considered moving north. The summers can't be as bad there as we get, but we also don't have months and months of icy weather.

Well, here in far west TX it's been cold, well, cold for us that is. Generally we don't get the kind of freezing winters that the eastern sections of TX gets nor does it get muggy here, it's usually very dry which makes it easier to breath when it's well over 100. It's finally going to be 63 today and maybe 68 tomorrow then sunday it's going back down to 52 and it'll be windy. At least we'll have sunshine.

Our weather will be good tomorrow and Sunday, and down into the 60's again on Monday, but that sure beats below freezing!

@rebelann pretty humid, the difference between Austin and Houston is that Houston is more humid, but that causes more "pop up" showers in the summer and the rain does briefly cool things off.

That's very true @ElicBxn I'm always amazed at just how different parts of TX are from each other. You're in the humid section?

It's a whole year that the weather is crazy. We only had a couple of inches of snow and the temperature is very mild to be winter.

At least in the summer we know its going to be one hot day after another, with the occasional thunderstorm.

@LadyDuck right now its a very nice 12.22º C, but it has gotten as high as 44.44º C in the past and that is very hard to endure without just wanting to cover yourself in wet clothes and lay under an air conditioner.

@Spontaneo it was supposed to get to the low 70's, but the sun barely came out and I don't think it made it.

@ElicBxn Today, the sun is shining! Let's make the sun shine EVERY day! I would love to move to a warm climate, but I won't leave my family.
