What's in a Name?

This morning as my husband and I were driving through Cambridge, we spotted an auto parts store. I read the name and was a bit taken aback. The name of this auto parts store was "Hot Spot, Auto Parts". The name certainly implies that these might be parts I don't want to be caught with. I wonder if they thought about this when they named their business? Would you buy your auto parts there?

They probably thought the name was catchy and it is.

Lol I love odd names of businesses I like to take photos and share them on Instagram and Facebook. This particular auto parts store might attract people due to the name just as much as it scares others off.

I was past it before I thought to take a photo of the sign.

Sure, if I knew anything about what kind of parts my car needed. I don't perceive a problem with "Hot Spot"

My first thought was.....stolen parts. I'm sure they aren't, but the name gave me pause to question the legitimacy.

Hot spot can also mean a popular gathering place...but it does bring to mind stolen parts. Maybe they didn't think their name through very carefully.

@Morleyhunt If they are younger, it's possible they don't know what "hot" means...or maybe they really are selling stolen parts!

I wonder if they really considered all the implications of the name.

No, I would not but I do not have a car either.

That would be an excellent reason to not consider buying auto parts.

Well, anything that would attract potential customers out there.

I don't think it would attract me into their place of business, but it might appeal to others.

We wouldn't go there, we do not actually buy any of our own parts, we take our vehicles into the shop. We don't even change our wiper blades ourselves anymore, they get done when they need it and its in for an oil change.

I thought it was unusual for an auto parts store.

Well, they could have given the name some thought. Perhaps they just meant that a lot of business is done there but it does make me think of parts that are hot or stolen.

A bit unusual name for auto parts store but it does kind of suggest that the parts are "hot"

Maybe they thought it would bring them more business. I just hope it is the right sort.

I'm not sure they would get my business. I think I would need a little convincing that they were on the up and up.
