Back with those favorite tunes with "ROAD" in the title. And as my featured video title says, "Any Ole Stretch of Blacktop Will Do" no matter what "color" is the surface. So, enjoy this Country video by Shenandoah, as we take that locomotive vehicle down that roadway to today's song clues.... See if you know these artists or their "ROAD" songs from the following clues: Song #1. This was a rare co-writing collaboration between the Country duo. The inspiration for the song was a road one of the artists used to live on in Arkansas. Mentioned in part of the tune's lyrics, the road was where he wrecked his first car, drank his first beer, and found Jesus. The song was a #1 Country charter for the duo. Their cover of "My Maria" (the B.W. Stevenson song), was the top country song on the year-end Billboard charts of 1996. Their debut album, "Brand New Man" (love that song) was their highest selling album and all but 2 of their 10 studio albums were certified platinum. Song #2. It was rumored that the song was about Judy Garland and the film in which she appeared. This 1973 ballad was heavily influenced by the soft rock sound at that time. Some critics have called this the singer's best song. The track was off a double LP which featured some classic tunes from the pianist. Among them were: "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Candle In The Wind, and Bennie and The Jets." Well, there you go and thanks for participating or commenting on my post! *Bio info from Wikipedia and songfacts.com Photo- google images

And # 2 is an accurate guess dear Faye! One is always better than none. Enjoy this Elton Classic...
One of my favorite performances from the set of VHS releases from this concert. Damaged tape lineage applies for this video.

A lot of people say that’s Reg’s best album. Personally, I think it has a little too much filler on it, but it would probably have been so good as a single album people would’ve needed resuscitation. My personal favorite album of his is Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, and what I consider his best song is “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters.” Still, my mom LOVED GBYBR. It brings back sweet memories of her when I hear it. As for song #1, I just want to quote Robbie Fulks: “he’d have to shave a few rough edges down: cut my hair like Brooks & Dunn’s, trade the banjo for some drums.” Never have been a big fan of theirs, but like you, I do like “Brand New Man.”

I agree about the filler but the good songs were truly exceptional! I liked his albums "Madman Across The Water" and "Honkey Chateau" which included some great tunes. Chateau particularly showed his development as an artist, which eventually led him to the critical and commercial popularity of Yellow Brick Road. Noticed your favorite/best EJ song came off the "Chateau" LP. Yes, that album was really transformational for EJ.
