Can introverts be friends with extroverts?

Do you personally prefer to have an extrovert friend or an introvert friend? Extroverts prefer the company of other people, they are friendly, they love parties. An introvert recharges by spending time alone. I am an introvert and I don't know if an extrovert can be my friend. Sometimes extroverts can't understand introverts. They recharge in the company of other people. And introverts need their time. They need to be alone, to read books. Introverts listen more, extroverts speak more. There are some differences. I had an experience with this. I talked to an extrovert friend and he didn't understand me. He said to me all the time: say something. He talked all the time. I was quiet. And he didn't understand why I spend time alone. He said that he'll become mad if he was like me.
