Hi any one is there I am traveling to my home town. It is past midnight here and I am on upper berth of train trying to sleep but I am thirsty I can't sleep. My water bottle empty and attendant is fast asleep I can't get till train stops at some meaningful station. My thirst may be the reason of my rising diabetes. Every time I resolve to control it but in weekday I give priority to my professional obligations at the cost of my health. Do you too compromise with your health at the altar of work? I will meet Saturday the moment I get off the train please wish me that I get water before that.

I hope you manage to get some water - can't you wake the attendant up?

Your thirst is not the reason for your diabetes , instead it's the result of your high glucose levels. If your blood sugar is high, your body will reduce it through urine. So you will noticed , you will have frequent urination and in turn results in frequent thirst. You should keep water with you whenever you travel and better yet , to control your blood sugar level.

But I am feeling other way round more thirst but not that much urine call. Last time when I visited doc and sought confirmation that is my kidney fine he had snubbed me :are you waiting the day to control it.

@suripunj I hope that your kidneys are normal as one of the complications of diabetes is renal impairment to renal failure. If you have shortness of breath and edema in your legs, you have to visit your doctor and have your kidneys check. If you have renal failure , you have to limit your fluid intake instead and may have to undergo dialysis.

It is horrible situation for sure. Next time make sure that you are travelling with enough water for drinking.

@suripunj In that case, you can seek help from a co-passenger.

I sincerely hope that relief comes soon. In future load up with more bottles of water. Yes, sometimes we do sacrifice for our jobs, I recall one time when I went 36 hours without sleep!

Thanks it came but once I am in possession of 1 full liter I am feeling less thirsty. I am curious to know what work it was that could not wait and you had to stretch that much hour. After 9 hours if I stretch I feel my productivity drops with each passing hours

@suripunj It was when I was employed at the government information services (GIS) I was on a planning committee for a conference of non aligned countries which was to be held in my country. The task of my group was to arrange the accommodation in top hotels in the city, meet the delegates at the airport (they arrived on different days and some flights came in late at night,) - see that they were settled, then return to the office. I remember dashing home just for a quick breakfast, a bath and a change of clothes.

@Kandae11 oh it is really very exhaustive. I get tired even on sitting my desk. 10 hours beating my head over clumsy code is enough for me to say :The world is very cruel.
