A week has passed...

A week has passed since my HOA has visited me. It wasn't a sympathy call or to check and see how I'm doing after the fire, they wanted to know how soon I was going to clean up themes from the fire. I had thought I was recovering really well, but when they started about cleanup I lost it and cried like a baby. To start with, I'm not exactly affluent. I live month to month on my disability income. As I have said many times, I can't fart fifties or poop hundreds. If I could I'd be eating beans and chomping down Exlax like crazy! Where am I supposed to come up with close to $30,000??? My only option is to sign a lien with the HOA so that the work can get done. I spoke to my attorney yesterday and he didn't advise me either way. I just know it might be awhile before the case gets settled. It's like the situation for the people in Santa Rosa that had their homes burned down thanks to the power company. Right now it's still adjusting to all the changes. It ain't easy! I adore Bill, he's been wonderful...but. I've lived alone for nearly forty years and living with a man again takes a lot of adjusting. Especially one who is super neat! Of course what do you expect when the man puts white wall to wall carpeting in his house? I'm succumbing to the "neatness" and picking up little bits and pieces off the floor. I did that so much at work yesterday that the boss yelled at me to cut it out!. I'm thankful for the roof over my head and a warm place to stay, but itsjust difficult changing your habit patterns suddenly! I'm used to getting up to a houseful of critters each morning. Now I'm in a situation where the critters live outside. I'm used to working on Teddy bears and not worrying about the mess. Not so with a man who is neat . It's supposed to being the 70's today. I could be cutting out bears.. I have to spend an hour setting up. Then when I'm done, an hour plus taking down and cleaning up. Oh well, such is life. Things could be worse. At least I'm kinda feeling better physically. I ordered stuff for my sales area at the store which will hopefully increase my sales. And, at least I am feeling like doing bears, which usually helps my frame of mind. So I guess I should get some breakfast and get to work on the bears. After I take pictures of the burn site and get a clean up plan written out to send to the HOA so they receive it within the specified amount of time. I just need to figure out what I'm going to do.

With the lein agreement or whatever it is called will it make it lower cost to have it cleaned up? This is all just so stressful for you

@BearArtistLady I think you will win as well and I hope you do! Seems so unfair though you have to pay all this ahead instead of them just waiting until the lawsuit is done then making whoever pay.

What the lein agreement does is loan me the money to pay for the cleanup and when the lawsuit is done if I win and get money for the damages, pay back the HOA. If I don't win the suit then the HOA gets my lot. My attorney is certain that I'll win. So, right now I'm working at finding someone cheaper to do the cleaning. I've never handled stress well. Thankfully I have my teddy bears to escape into. When I get really stressed out I lose myself in making teddy bears. I've had so much stress that I'm on medication to help control the effects on my body.

What a horrible time for you. Isn't there any other program in your area that might help you?

It seems like I'm on the edge of everything. I have a neighbor that was supposed to give me a quote on cleanup. I'm going to get ahold of him about it and see what he comes up with. Plus I'm giving him all the metal which can be recycled for cash. He could make quite a bit from it as there is framework from the house, metal roofing, a metal shed, the appliances, the car...when I think about all the stuff the man could make quite a bit! I'm just not doing well with the change, and then something else I lost in the fire comes to mind. There are a lot of irreplaceable items...oh well, time will heal the wounds, along with the wonderfulness of the myLot members.

@BearArtistLady .....THis is all pretty traumatic for a person to go through. And, it sounds like you are the only one so that makes it hard on you. This neighbor could help you a lot. I hope he does. I'm sure he could make himself a tidy sum from it all.
