Who? The man who founded IKEA. He was 91. I remember, back in the 70s, we bought a couple of his wooden dining chairs. We were having a dinner party and didn't have quite enough chairs for everybody invited. They were so uncomfortable that we returned them, after the party of course.

I have garden chairs from Ikea and they are very comfortable, I try the chairs before buying them.

See, that's the thing. They were ok for a few minutes, but after 20-30 minutes, not so much.

@BarBaraPrz Most chairs are uncomfortable and the more they are expensive, the more they are only great to look and not to use.

IKEA is huge furniture store specializing in Swedish design from Sweden that has stores elsewhere in the world. There is one close to where I live.

@JohnRoberts And you have to put the furniture together yourself.

I gather he had handed control of the company he founded to others decades ago - but he still maintained an advisory role to IKEA at that great age. Rumour has it he was no spendthrift, miserly if anything. I wonder if he'll be buried in a flat-packed casket or coffin?

Yes, some is. Like those chairs we bought. Looked nice, but we didn't have square bums...

We've gotten a few things from IKEA. Can't complain too much. We've enjoyed our purchases.

Yes, especially considering you have to put it together yourself and a lot of it is chipwood.

All the stuff there seems like its not real wood. My vintage finds are wood, not particle board fakes.

A few items are real wood, but they cost more. I prefer old furniture, too.
