Time stood still

I awoke to see the time on my clock radio flashing 2:30. I was definitely later than that. I thought that we had had a power failure in the night.
I checked the clock on the stove, and it too was flashing 2:30. Oddly enough, the clock on the microwave had the correct time and did not flash. So did the one in the thermostat.

@shaggin Thanks. That makes more sense.

I would, yes. But when I lived in Vancouver, if there was a power outage, one outlet still had power in my condo. That was weird, too, as I know we didn't have a generator.

The blackout was probably very short, maybe less than 1 second, and some of your clocks have better capacitors than others... You know the good ones now.
Speaking of weird things about clocks, I have 2 clocks at home with a DCF77 receiver (the time is given to them by a radio transmitter in Germany) and last week one of these clocks gave me during several hours the GMT hour, 1 hour less than my local hour. At a moment the clock corrected itself to give me the right time... The other one always gave the right time. I have DCF77 clocks since more than a decade, I had never seen this before.

@BarBaraPrz They work only in Europe and part of North-Africa. You have nothing to do : you have not to change the time twice a year, and they are synchronised with atomic time... when they work. Quite all radio clocks are equipped in Europe, you would not have noticed this power failure.

It's strange that the microwave clock didn't flash. At least you found the correct time on the microwave

I'll go with the Poltergeist theory... I often hear strange noises here.

That can be confusing. I am glad to have my mobile so I always know what time it is.
