I’ve started so I hope to finish!! It seems that I knit for everyone else except me, I can’t remember the last time I did knit something for myself. I‘ve decided on knitting myself a pair of socks. Yes, a pair of socks, I’ve only ever knitted one sock before and that was maybe 10 years ago. It’s called two sock syndrome where you knit one sock but never knit the second. Many people knit 2 at a time socks, doing the cuff on both socks then the leg followed by the heel, the foot and then finishing both socks with the toe. I always have multi projects on the go, I think I have 6 at the moment in various stages, I really need to get finished but I hope to finish a pair of socks for myself sometime this year, that would be nice. The yarn I’m using is 75% fine superwash Merino wool and 25% Nylon and cost £11 ($15.50) for 100g in the colour Sugilite. The photo is one I've started and just finished the cuff, now onto the leg.

Wow that yarn is expensive. I hope you get the time to finish them and enjoy them. I'd love to see a photo of them when and if they are completed.

@shaggin I think over the years, yarn as become more expensive but not totally sure, never had lovely merino wool, superwash, bamboo, hand dyed yarn or any other wonderful yarns you can get these days back then. I have Knitcrate each month and they sent me some yarn made with 32% nettle, see photo wonderful colours

That's not the expensive yarn I do have, I have some way more, I have some of upwards of $30 for 100grams Yarn can be expensive for good quality hand dyed yarn. Then you get cheaper yarn for the likes of Hobbycraft here in the UK or Hobby Lobby, Micheal or Joannes over there. I'm on the leg part of one sock and I will take a photo once the leg is done.

I like the color of the yarn that you are using. I'm not too crazy about knitting socks on a magic loop nor two-at-a-time. It took about 4 or 5 socks for me to get used to using DPNs. I just finished the first sock from a pattern in the sock knitting club that I joined last month.

@kevin1877uk When I start a sock on DPNs, it's a bit fiddly until about 10 rows are complete. Then it's smooth going after that.

@bluerubymoon53 The smallest DPN's I've got are 3.75mm and one gone missing, I need to buy me new ones.

I guess it does take a few to get going, getting the right pattern and which heel to use and so on. I don't have any smaller DPN's the smallest I have is 4mm, Maybe on my next lot of socks I might use DPN, get some from Amazon.

Now is this sock going to match the one from ten years ago, or are you starting a whole new pair?

LOL so funny if only it was. No this will hopefully with be a pair. I guessed if I wrote about it, it would make to do it. It's just so easy to put it to one side and leave and get other things done, but it would be nice to be able to say Yes I have knitted one pair of socks.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I think a hat seems a better plan and much easier to do lol. If I only knit one again I won't bother trying again, well I don't think so, but no I need to stay positive about making a pair.

@kevin1877uk Well if you do end up only knitting one again you can do one of two things. Either save the single sock and hope to finish it some day (along with some matching yarn to knit with), or just say forget it altogether and next time knit yourself a hat!

Very expensive yarn. I checked your products in etsy. I am very impressed that your crafts are beautiful. I also knit sometimes but not for sale.

Thank you, I think because there is so much work that goes into making one then you need to make another.

I always had several crochet projects on the go. I'd have something that I could do without thinking about it - doing the back of a jumper for instance - and more fiddly things where I needed to concentrate.

Yeah, I know what you mean there. I leave fiddly things to do in better daylight rather than house lights.
