Super Blue Blood Moon was a Bust here

My photo of a waning moon from 2016

I woke up at 5 AM, remembered this very rare moon event and recalled that I had been able to see the moon through the clouds late last night. So up I rose, threw on a warm bathrobe and ventured out the front door. It was cold, but not raining, yet there were clouds above that totally obscured whatever was happening beyond them. Drat! Well, the newspaper had been delivered, so I grabbed it, came back in and started the coffee. I read the post from China by @changjiangzhibn89 about the moon event coinciding with his wife's birthday. What a great day that made! I'll be checking out more Moon posts. How was your moon experience? By the way, why won't some things highlight that are supposed to?

@JamesHxstatic Vince isn't here and I don't know which file the photos are in so I'll have to wait till he comes home. He is very particular but I feel sure there will be one worth putting up in a discussion.

Thank you for mentioning me in your post ! Yes,It was a big coincidance. You know my wife's birthday varies from year to year in solar calendar. This year it fell on January 31,next birthday will be on January 9 ,2020,because here most people celebrate their birthdays according to the date in lunar calendar.

Oh I did not know that. That does leave the day open for unexpected events and it could happen on significant days in history as well.

Have no idea what happened to the super moon. I never go to bed too early and when I do I usually always can see a full moon right out my bedroom window. But this super moon I did not see anywhere.

@JamesHxstatic - It was a bust for me, too. We live on the side of a hill and, when I got up this morning, I threw a coat on over my nightgown and ran outside. I even walked a little way down the sidewalk outside of my house, to a view spot where I can look all the way to Saddleback Mountain. No moon. It must have been low in the sky on the other side of the hill. I was not willing to walk to the top of the hill in my nightgown in order to see it, so I missed it. Some of my friends who live in other parts of my community did see it, though. Bummer!

I have also read the post of the Chinese user, a very special occasion. It rained here, I have not even seen the moon.

I agree about the highlighting. Same thing happened in my discussion today. I only saw a big, beautiful, moon in crystal clear skies as I usually do down here. lol
