Dipg

What is dipg? Most people have never heard of it. Dipg is a brain stem cancerous tumour. Unlike other cancer it isn't a solid tumour. It's proper name is diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma - as it's name suggests, it is diffuse in nature and wraps itself around healthy blood cells, making it inoperable and incurable at present. It affects mainly children but occasionally affects adults although it is rarer. In the uk it affects 35 children a year and life expectancy is on average 12 months. My daughter was diagnosed at the age of 5 and beat statistics living for 3 years, she became the longest surviving uk child and a hero in her own rights and she's got her name all over google. In the 60s Neil Armstrong lost his daughter to this monster disease which led him to be the first man to walk on the moon. Since muffy passed away till now nothing has changed in the treatment of dipg. Standard radiation is the only option although there are several trials coming out but nothing is a cure, chemo doesn't work as it can't cross the blood brain barrier. Please share childhood cancer awareness, go gold and tell people about dipg which is the biggest killer in children. Google Keira wrenn and see the fight she fought, support funding neuro and raise awareness. Big advances have been made in other cancers, but very little when it comes to childhood cancer. 1 child lost is 1 too many
