Kangaroo Knocks Woman off Bicycle

This is actually a post that @JudyEv should be writing, since she lives in Australia. However, they showed it on our local news, here in California, and it amazed me. It is a video of a woman peacefully riding her bicycle along a road, when a kangaroo popped up out of nowhere and knocked her off her bike! When I looked for the video, I found several similar ones, before I found the one I wanted. It must be a common occurrence. Apparently, if you bicycle in Australia, they have some rather unique road hazards! You can find a link to the video below.
A little bit of 'roo rage in Australia left a cyclist with a dislocated shoulder, a cut knee, and something to laugh about later

Kangaroos don't have a lot of sense and often get hit on our roads. They seem to have no idea about dodging cars or, in this case, bikes. They just seem to decide they're going somewhere and off they go. I'm sorry for the woman and just glad she wasn't more badly hurt.

I didn't know that about kangaroos. We seem to have a similar problem with deer. In some parts of the country, they get hit my cars constantly, and it can do a lot of damage to a car. I felt sorry for this woman, too, but apparently she had a good sense of humor about it. What a shock, though! I'm sure she was stunned when it happened!

@JudyEv - Other animals have been known to behave that way on golf courses, too. Once, when my husband was playing golf at Banff, Canada, there were some moose on the course, and they had to postpone the game until the moose left. LOL That was the first, and only, time his game was postponed because of moose!

@DeborahDiane From what I saw on the video there was no way it was a deliberate attack. Sometimes male roos lose their fear of humans and will stand up to people or even attack but it's rare out in the open. Some golf clubs have a population of roos and the bucks will stand their ground forcing players to go round them.

@DeborahDiane You know what I just thought of? Perhaps that was a kangaroo that was part of a gang that steal bikes just like those who pull people out of cars and take the vehicles. Not really funny but amusing though this. Can animals go bad??? Only that kangaroo didn't ride off on the bike.

@RasmaSandra - I'm sure that woman was really shocked when it happened! I don't know what the solution is.

Roos just decide where they want to go and go there. This doesn't look to me like a deliberate attack.

@Marilynda1225 - It made me laugh, too, especially after I heard the woman was able to laugh about it after it happened. She did have to get a few stitches in her knee, though!

@Hannihar - No, she was not badly hurt, although she did require a few stitches in her knee. They showed her on the news laughing about it ... after she had recovered from the shock! (By the way, I told my friend that rabbis in Israel recommend prenuptial agreements and my friend said she would mention that to her granddaughter. I think it brought her a lot of relief. Thanks for telling me about that.)

@Hannihar - Not that I know of. I know that her mother, father and brother all live in California, as well as my friend, her grandmother. She may have grandparents or other relatives from her father's side of the family who live in Israel, though. I never asked.

@DeborahDiane You are so welcome Deborah-Diane. I am glad she feels relief and hope the granddaugher will do that. Does the granddaughter have family here?

The poor woman! Judy showed us quite a few photos of kangaroos in the past, but kangaroos in her area seemed to behave very well.

@DeborahDiane ... Like minors and insane do not understand the contract and the court forgives them, I am sure the court would forgive the Kangaroo too for his/her inability to understand the laws. But wonder whether insurance companies cover such things.

@vandana7 - I don't think she is suing. She thought it was funny, although she did get a few stitches in her knee.

@vandana7 - Yes, I'm sure the kangaroo would be forgiven under the law. LOL As for the insurance coverage, I suppose it depends on the type of insurance she had, whether or not she was a citizen of Australia, etc.

One must be careful where to bike in Australia then. This would be a great help to me coz I'm into cycling. Fortunately, I don't live in Australia and I don't have to worry about kangaroos.

@MALUSE - Yes, you are unlikely to see a kangaroo hopping down the road in Central Europe. Of course, I would never expect to see one in Texas, either! LOL

@sallypup - Very observant of you! I would not know how to tell if a kangaroo is pregnant, carrying a young one in its pouch, or just ate too much!

@JohnRoberts - Ha ha! Here in California, those signs would be everywhere if we had kangaroos! LOL (Although, there were two people attacked by a mountain lion in a wildlife area. I don't know if there were any danger signs, though.)
