And Today He Died

I saw him for the first time only a few days back.He was a painter hired to paint the doors of a temple just behind our house.A good looking boy in his late twenties. After giving final touch of his brush to a door he looked at me smilingly and asked," It looks great, doesn't it?" Smiling back to him I said,"Yes,it looks very beautiful. You have done a great job."And I left. And today morning he died. While alighting from a slowly moving train at the railway platform he could not maintain balance and fell on the tracks and was run over by the train. I lack words to tell you how shocking it all is for me.We were not friends.I had seen and talked to him only once.Still I am feeling like I have suddenly lost a close friend.

OMG..I am sorry for this young boy. It happens with us sometimes a person may not be our close but still we remember that fellow. Was he jumping out of running tram or what?

@sjvg1976 No,as I'm told he was alighting from the train without waiting for the train to stop.He placed his right foot on the plateform, but got imbalanced and before the co-passengers could realise what was going to happen and do something,he fell on the tracks with his head under the wheels.

@Shivram59 That sounds like safety measures are not in place (the train hardly stopping properly). Such a dangerous thing to do. Do you think that the authorities will change that policy now? And open the doors only when the train had comme fully to a stop?

@Shivram59 Oh oh, some mistakes we do not recover from. No second chances! Sad affair though. So young too.

@Gita17112016 As his co-travellers told us,he was dozing when the train was about to enter platform. The train halts hardly for a minute at our railway station.I guess he was in a hangover while alighting and could not put his foot firmly on the platform.
