Reporting briefly

I had scheduled a regular quarterly check up on my diabetes for today, since I had the day off. My numbers have been a little high for the last three months. It is possible I have an infection going on. I still cough some and that is concerning to my doctor. So, I am on a new antibiotic that should help, so I do not develop bronchitis. I also mentioned that I might have a dental infection, not sure, and she said it would be good for that as well. We talked about the fact that working in the school it is really common to have lots of illnesses and not feel well. Especially when we work closely with kids who are having issues long term. Reporting about my sister: Her appointment was in a different town, to see a dermatologist. She has had a sore place in her nose for a long time. Kind of like cartilage and it hurts, especially if she has to blow her nose a lot. She has seen an ear nose and throat doctor who really had nothing to offer her. That was two years ago. The long and short of things is that they decided to apply liquid nitrogen to the excessive tissue in her nose and hope that takes care of it. It burns and stings. They used a cotton swab to apply it rather than a pressurized canister of liquid nitrogen. I hope it does the trick for her. We were pleasantly surprised that they actually did something for her on her first visit. So those appointments were the major part of my day. I am glad to be home. Hubby is bowling. I will see you in the morning.

I imagine the kids give you lots of interesting illnesses. Your poor sister.

This is a really bad year, in the schools and out. I am not sure what is wrong with me, I thought maybe indoor dust allergies, as I do not run a fever. However my blood glucose is not dropping and responding correctly to the things I do, so that and some pain, seems to indicate infection. I think schools need to have their ventilation systems steamed cleaned or something. We tend to pipe the germs through to everyone.

@GardenGerty The ventilation system sounds like a possibility.

Oh gosh the procedure your sister has to have done inside her nose sounds awful. I would want to be out out for something like that. I hope the antibiotic clears up the infection for you. One good thing about being around sick kids a lot is after you have caught everything from the in a few years you should have built up a better resistance I was so sickly as a kid but by my teens I was rarely ever sick and same now. Every 2 or 3 years I get a sinus thing that turns to bronchitis then when it feels like I am breathing through a straw and think I might have pneumonia then I finally go to the doctor.

I have never been diagnosed with bronchitis. My sister (younger) and mom used to get it. I used to stay really healthy, even working around kids, but I seem to have lost that immunity.

I hope that the liquid nitrogen applied with a cotton swab will help, but in a humid place like the nose I would be surprised. Laser should be used in this case.

This is a first step. She has had some other growths removed on her face this way. They said a laser would produce a bigger sore.

@GardenGerty On the face is the way to go, inside the nose I am not sure it will work.

It stung. She is more bothered by the pain from this spot getting irritated, and was glad that they acted promptly. She has had other doctors kind of give her the runaround. Thanks for the good wishes.

Oh this has been going on since November 10. I had pneumonia in November/December. I have not felt really well since then.

Well, the antibiotic is acting like they do. . . they have a few expected side effects and they work their way slowly to an improvement. I am trying to eat healthy for it.

Yes. She sometimes gets very frustrated. Sometimes things take multiple appointments before they act on anything.
