Warm your muffins

I make big batches of muffins, but they always taste best when they are hot. We wanted warm muffins this morning and I decided to try a new way of warming them. Bread, when just put in the microwave, often comes out chewy and tough for me. I took muffins for hubby and I and put them in a small brown paper bag. I folded the top over them and warmed them for just thirty seconds. They were perfect. I will do this again. I will also make some more muffins.

@silvermist This is an easy muffin recipe.
This recipe can be your starting point for a wide array of sweet and savory muffins, depending on what you decide to add. You can choose blueberries or Cheddar, for instance. It's up to you.

Some things heat well in the microwave but others aren't so successful. I often wrap things in a paper towel. That often works.

That is what I have done in the past, but I find I liked this better.

@JudyEv The air in the bag heats up and I think it warms them all the way around. I do need to add that it was four small muffins for thirty seconds. One would be about ten seconds.

@GardenGerty I wonder what the difference is between heating something in a paper towel and in a brown paper bag?

Back in the day my brother taught me to warm bread in the oven with a damp paper towel over the top of the bread, I forgot how long to leave it but I bet this would be okay for the microwave too.

I was told to put it in a dry towel or on a napkin or paper plate in the microwave. I thought I would try the brown bag because I had some, and I can use this one multiple times.

I do that too! The water helps keep bread items moist!

Make them sound so very good and very yummy. I donĀ“t get any muffins around here and I would have to travel out quite far to get them. Enjoy them and have a great evening.

@GardenGerty At the moment the muffins they make here have way too much not good fats in them so I stay away from those. I meant the good well made ones which there are but I live far out at the moment so too far to go and get any. Eat bread with a variety of cereals in but I am cutting the bread down bit by bit.

That sounds like a great way to warm them and have them come out right. Thanks for finding that way of doing it. Now I'll know how to do it in the future.

@GardenGerty No, I'm not going to break my Whole30 plan. But I can put it on the back burner for when I've met my goal.

I should have said that thirty seconds was good for four mini muffins. Tonight I warmed whole grain hot dog buns the same way.

Oh ok, I have put a slightly wet papertowel over buns a few times to keep moisture in them so they don't dry out.

I will have to try that. My mom did used to warm buns that way in the oven.

Many items can be "revived" with a microwave zap.

Yes, they can. I think the bag or other paper covering helps it warm more evenly.

I agree that microwaving them makes them tougher. I'll have to try out that brown paper bag in the oven trick!

@GardenGerty Oh, I missed that you did them in the microwave... I thought you put the paper bag in the oven! I remember when I was a young bride, someone gave me a cookbook that had a recipe for chicken roasted in a brown paper bag in the oven. Have you ever done this?

I just nuke mine for 11 secs. (easier to punch 1 twice than 1 and 0 for 10).

Right, they do not lend themselves to being popped into the toaster.
