Illegals giving the finger to Mount Rushmore! OMG!

A picture has been circulating for years throughout conservative groups. 3 people are shown standing in the forefront with Mt. Rushmore way in the background and they are all giving it the middle finger. In America, that is a HUGE sign of disrespect. In the past couple of days I've seen my next door neighbors post about this (including pictures) and the wife's response was "get the hell out of our country!" I was shocked. It is pretty obvious just by SIGHT that the people in the picture are NATIVE AMERICANS and not undocumented workers from a Hispanic country! Mt Rushmore WAS formerly Six Grandfathers and a sacred site to the Sioux Indians. I don't blame them for "saluting" the monument while they were there. The United States has never done anything properly by the Native Americans. But don't try to use this picture of them as an example of undocumented immigrants (illegals) being disrespectful. This is an entirely different issue.

They have every right to flip anything we do off. African Americans get a whole month of being recognized yet not one day has been given to the Native Americans and what's worse is that they have all been lumped into one group when clearly there is a huge difference between the Navajo and Algonquin tribes, even their cultures are different.

Once in a while we get a movie about a native group like the Navajo code talkers that helped win the Second World War, but we never hear the Choctaws did the same thing in World War One. Either way, most people do not know about the positive influences native Americans have on the history of the US.

Exactly @GardenGerty in fact our "forefathers" got their idea for our constitution from the Algonquin nations and even that is not really recognized. It's really sad that so much of our rich Native American history has been destroyed because of greed.

These days, it seems that calling someone "illegal" just means "I don't like brown skin".

You can tell by looking at them that they are Native Americans.

The photo is unfortunate and the use of it to insult the migrants is a typical right wing tactic and a shameful one.

It's a shame that the US hasn't treated the Native Americans fairly. This "salute" is justified.

"You can tell by looking at them that they are Native Americans." Oh yeah anyone could tell that for sure but did I miss something here? This isn't having a dig at anyone I am genuinely curious is there a detail I haven't picked up on to tell? Because to be fair they could just not like the blokes that make up Mount Rushmore
