Rotten Kids today... Is TV to blame? parents?

Lets face it, its a sad state of affairs when majority of people can easily picture a rotten kid they had the unfortunate chance to meet.  I just read another story about an awfully behaved child that is doing so with full support of their mother for the rude behavior. Sure I want my kids to have the freedom to talk and socialize with who they want to. I don't believe in forced hugs or kissing people that are strangers to them. There is however a fine line between common courtesy and disrespect. Where do children learn about what is acceptable or not? From their parents! I fully believe they are little mirrors that will reflect what they see. I also think a lot of parents are not taking their role in their kids life seriously. They allow the cell phone, tablet, and television to be a parent.  Modern children cartoons are deplorable when it comes to teaching children positive things. At the end of the old cartoon He-man the main character would speak respectably about social concerns. Have you seen the modern day lesson equivalent on the magic school bus? Good lord... Its deplorable.  My kids saw the show on netlix. They were so excited to see it because its something they saw while at school. So I turn it on. The first part of the show is really neat and educational. Its at the end when the child calls in and complains during the producers segment. The manner in which they do it so disrespectful that I don't understand how they think its okay for a school to show this to kids. I feel it could be a great thing for a child character to share information, for sure. Except it should be done respectfully. Most of the ones that I willingly sat and watched with my kids had them complaining about not covering all the information during the show. To me, that is like a child going to a birthday party and then complaining to the host how awful it was because not everything was done. Like seriously? The tone and the manner in which the kids relays information is so disrespectful that if kids spoke that way to their actual teachers, they likely would end up with detention or sent to the principals office. So why allow this kind of behavior to be a role model? So IF my kids do watch this show at home, I do have them turn it off before the producers segment gets on. Sadly, most of the other cartoons that highlight and promote obnoxious behavior are not that easy to turn off. Its part of the actual show. Have you seen any modern cartoons for kids? How do they compare to the ones you watched as a child?

It always rests with parents who can control the TV and devices with their children.

I know exactly what you're talking about with Magic school bus and we turn it off before that part as well here. It's very rude. It is the parents fault for how their children behave, 100%. If there's something inappropriate on a show the parents shouldn't let their kids watch it-that simple. I babysat a boy that is so disrespectful, curses, makes fun of people for fun (him and his mom make fun of each other back and forth at home), and doesn't eat anything except noodles with butter every single day. When I told his mom everything she said-he only behaves that way because he has ADHD and he can't help his behavior!! What? No, he behaves that way because he needs Jesus, good parenting and a swift kick in the backside!!

Yes, agree to some extent TV is responsible to impart certain things to children which are not considered good for them. For example as you have quoted to be rude and rough with others is not good! No parents would teach their children to do such things! Some how since both the parents are working now days kids are given less of time by parents because of which parents are not in a position to track the activities of their kids on day to day basis! So I feel busy parents and TV together are acting spoilers for kids! Thanks dear @Daelii for the thought provoking discussion!

I will base it on my own understanding and experienced During my younger time, I really don`t watch too much cartoons only the Tom & Jerry where I can see how they do everything to pissed at each other but in the end they`re best of friend for me it was funny that time but now it has a different meaning and views like realizing that it happens in real but in a different manner

"Rotten" kids have been around in every generation. The lingo and manner might have change but how is it any different from when we were kids rebelling against authority figures? Has political correctness now extend to children as well?
