Followers are not relevant here. Leave lots of thoughtful comments on others' posts, and write interesting posts when the mood strikes you.

What would you need followers for? They're of no importance whatsoever on this site. Write interesting discussions, read, like and comment on other members' discussion as much as you can and people may decide to follow you. Yet, even if you'll get hundreds of followers, nobody will be impressed.

Gaining followers here is not of great importance. It doesn't really do anything for you. People can read your discussions and interact with what you post on the site without "following" you.
