Asking the "Duh" questions

Do you have people ask you those obvious questions that beg for the "DUH" answers? I just about asked a question begging for the DUH answer. A friend of mind's son and daughter-in-law are in the hospital delivering her first grand child. I almost slipped and asked "What are they having?" In reference to if it was a boy or a girl. (By the way it was a girl delivered by "C" section...that's just above "D" section...). I had to stop my self because I'm guilty of being one of those smart arses that says "They're having a baby, try to keep up!!!" I've done it to a lot of people. They'll ask something like "what's that" when I'm carrying a bag...the answer, yep you guessed it, "a bag". It always earns me " The Look", you know that look where the person would really love to slap you but civilized people don't slap each other for smart arsed answers. I guess I should get to what I've got planned to do today. Make sure that you answer a "Duh" question with an obvious answer. Especially if you can do it to your boss or someone supposed to be really intelligent!

Lol they should ask if they could use your bathroom rather then ask if there is one so I can see why you would feel like saying duh or a can in the alley

I usually am very careful about my answers to "Duh" questions. It's like at the antique shop I work at. It seems like each time I work I'll have someone stand in front of the open bathroom door and they'll ask if we have a bathroom. It's extremely tempting to say we have a can in the alley...but I work hard to control myself and politely say it's right behind them. I came so close to asking the "duh" question, but caught myself in time. But with people who act like they are so brilliant I can't help but to give a obvious answer to a duh question.

Dear friend asking a DUH question is easy thing...like asking some one at the door...oh have you arrived? etc etc....but really need to have ready stock of repartees and tongue in cheek comments ready to tackle such questions dear @BearArtistLady ! Thanks!

Its like asking a person what they're doing when its so obvious. Like when I was at the car lot Sunday looking at a couple of the station wagons. No one came to see if I needed help, especially since the cars were all locked. When the salesman came out asking "Ya want something?", I answered " No of course not! I always wander around a used car lot for the heck of it". After some words back and forth and the salesman getting the keys to the cars I finally left with the parting shot that it would be a cold day in hel- before I bought a car from him...He probably still hasn't figured that he not only lost my possibly purchasing a vehicle, he's lost the good will by his stupid question. I've always got my repartees loaded for those people too lazy to ask an intelligent question....like the person at the door...my reply to the dumb question would be "No, I'm a figment of your imagination waiting for the film crew down the street"

Sometimes I will clarify things by asking some of those type of questions. Just to be sure we are on the same page.
