When is a like not a like?

When I first joined myLot, I got notifications of every time someone liked any post or comment. Then I changed my notifications so that I don't get one for just a like. But my question is, after someone had responded to my post, I respond back, then get maybe a "Thanks" or "Have a nice day." I usually like that so the person will know I read it. Would you all rather not get a like at all that sort of ends the discussion or does getting likes in your notifications not bother you? Not sure if I've made myself clear, but what do you think?

I do not mind receiving a like, as there are no actions to take if someone simply likes your discussion or a comment. I turned off because I was receiving too many notifications.

I just want likes for the discussions I made. I don't bother for likes on the comments or responses. I end a discussion by just liking to show that I read the post and I have nothing more to say

Likes are okay to me. Likes is still a recognition, that others recognizes your post.

Recently I've stopped 'liking' the last comment of a string of back-and-forth interactions - at the point where a person says 'that's fine' or something like that. It does save me a lot of time. However, like you, I like people to know I've read what they've said.

That's exactly why I like a final comment. They might not get notified, but they may see the like and know I read their comment, plus get slight credit for it.

May be...I never paid any attention...I don't mind getting like notifications too...because I come to know about the people with whom I can interact easily as they have already opened up the gates for me! Thanks dear @1creekgirl

I don't have most notifications on anymore, just comments because with the likes it was too much at times.

It was clear to me. I've done the same thing. I also 'like' the comment when there is nothing else to say.

I don't mind have likes in my notifications. I don't mind just getting likes too.

Some people are serial likers. So, if they "like" everything you post on the site it can get annoying seeing all those notifications that so and so liked your comment, response, or post. I think I prefer not to know. But I would be curious to know the total "likes' for things I post here, my discussions in particular.

I like a lot of posts. I respond when a thought occurs to me.

I have seen a few who never like your post or comments but they only respond, and it does bother me what's there in hitting the like, as anyways you are responding.
