People need to stop saying teachers should be armed

As if we don't already have enough to do. And, seriously? School budgets are so stretched as it is. There is no money for basic school supplies. Now suddenly there will be money for Glocks, ammunition, and regular training time at the range? I work in a high school. I'm pretty strong as I work out regularly but I am reasonably certain that an enraged teenager could disarm me if enraged enough. That sounds like a recipe for disaster. . . 200+ armed teachers in a building. Lots of opportunities for kids to obtain a weapon if they get pissed off enough. The day I have to carry a weapon at work is the day that I quit my job. End of story.

i can see schools going to the old 80s method of school security at L.A. inner city schools. metal detectors and searches at a main point of entry, just like they do at airports. schools entrances being locked from start to end of day. security clearances for visitors and parents. kids may as well go to school in a prison, because thats how it was back then.

@NJChicaa - thing though is, if someone is going to go on a spree in a school, they will find a way. no matter how many rules and laws you got.

Arming teachers is not going to solve the problem of mentally ill people going on shooting rampages. Until we properly address the mental health crisis in this country, these things are going to keep happening.

Agreed. Easy access to assault weapons isn’t helping either.

This will likely lead to more shooting. Just a bad idea in the history of bad ideas.

I don't think teachers should be armed but I do think schools need better security.

Social media is the blame as well as every kid having a cell hone and a computer, a lot of bullying goes on. I take a gin to work with me, I have a permit to carry concealed. I am sure you would be jumped by a kid at school before a tenant would try that with me No, no one knows I carry.

I would not support that motion. It is a recipe for disaster. How about accidental shootings, how about when there are altercations?

Schools should have metal detectors on the entrances of the buildings like court houses or some airports.

That's not going to stop someone who is storming in the building
