Favorite Record Producers #9 - Steve Albini

Continuing my celebration of record producers, who make the music that I love sound the way it does. We are at #9 in the countdown: Steve Albini. While he has been the guiding force behind critically acclaimed alternative bands Big Black (one of my favorites,) Rapeman, Flour, and Shellac, Steve Albini is probably best known as a record producer and sound engineer (he dislikes the title "record producer," preferring to be called an "audio engineer." In fact, when serving as "producer," the man would rather not receive credit in the album's liner notes as such, preferring to be credited as "recording engineer.") He is the owner of the Chicago recording studio, Electrical Audio, and estimates that he has worked on approximately 1500 albums. While mainstream listeners have more than likely not heard of the majority of those records, some of the notable albums produced by Albini include Surfer Rosa by the Pixies, Point #1 by Chevelle, In Utero by Nirvana, Things We Lost in the Fire by Low, Rid of Me by PJ Harvey, Razorblade Suitcase by Bush, Rockford by Cheap Trick, Seamonsters by The Wedding Present, and Pod by The Breeders. In addition to his duties as a record producer/sound engineer, Steve Albini is also a music journalist and food blogger. (Fun Fact: Albini placed 12th at the 2013 World Series of Poker Seniors Championship.) (1500 records info verified by Wikipedia)

Do you remember Big Black? Not sure if KROQ would have played this, but it's my favorite by them.

Did not know all of that and this is one of my favorite bands of 2000 or after being they came out after 2000. They really good and remember telling my girlfriend that, but not even the band could save that.

@teamfreak16 So true there. Also effects on the instruments and voice -- sometimes the real thing sounds way different
