Travelling to the City for a Funeral

Even though this pic doesn't show it, it was an incredibly sunny day for a funeral. A cousin-in-law of mine's mother passed away so we travelled to the city to pay our respects. It turned out to be a busy drive through the city traffic both there and back but I was glad I went. Sometimes funerals and weddings are the only time you get to see distant family or long time friends who don't live close by and that part's a bit of a shame. Turned out to be a gloriously sunny day and I got lots of Vitamin D along with good fellowship with family. Sad occasion but very glad we went. Makes me want to plan to see these people more often.

I totally agree about connecting with folks you don't see often. Although a sad occasion it is nice to reconnect with relatives and friends you may not see at other times.

Really true in this fast paced world. And I vow to make more of an effort in the future. It was great to see them.

I think we can't be bothered to travel long distances or phone people out of the blue- who knows?
