In 1960 the best song was “Georgia on My Mind” and the singer was the ever-popular Ray Charles. The song was written by Tin Pan Alley composer Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell in 1930 but once Charles recorded it he made the song his own. Charles recorded the song for his 1960 album The Genius Hits the Road. In 1979 the State of Georgia made it the official state song. Rolling Stone Magazine named Charles’ version the 44th greatest song of all time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_on_My_Mind

I remember this song very well. I'm surprised that it came out so long ago. I was still at school then. Well, time flies.

I remember this. A great song and how nice it was adopted by the county.
