In China, The Spring Festival is ceremonious. All of us come back home from anywhere. We have a family reunion dinner. And we have a long holiday.

Not necessary to see all of the relatives. But it's a tradition to meet your direct ones, especially on the Chinese New Years Eve. In general, Chinese New Year in China, as well as some other Asia countries, is similar to Christmas in the western ones.
