I feel it's so tight to live on 65k a year with a family of 4. What do you think?

65k works out to $1,250 per week. If that makes money 'tight' then you need to take a good look at your spending habits.

$65k CAD is just over $51k USD but that ought still to be enough to live comfortably. Either he has a huge mortgage or living expenses are very high in PEI. $65k CAD is about $10k below the average for PEI, however:

I have to remind you it's before tax, and in Canada. The mortgage is around 1000/mo, less than the rent for a house.

@Tonycn You did not specify before taxes, and 1000/mo only uses $12000 a year. What is your tax percentage? How much do you make yearly after taxes?

$65,000 a year? That is easy for a family of 4.
