Well well well. Here we are, already at #6 in my countdown of my favorite record producers: Chris Bangs. Chris Bangs is not only a producer, but also a composer and musician that made his mark producing albums and songs for the Acid Jazz label. In fact he is widely considered as the man that coined the term "acid jazz." Among the albums produced by Bangs: Paul Weller's: 1992 self titled album, Bosh!, and Dazzle by The Quiet Boys, Piktures by Yada Yada, Surreal Thing, and Life Force by Soundscape UK, and Kosmosis of the Heart by Mr. Electric Triangle. Additionally, you can find Bangs-produced songs sprinkled all over the Acid Jazz label's outstanding This is Acid Jazz compilation series, as well as other acid jazz compilations. What can I say? Anyone who has been paying attention to these countdowns knows that I am a pretty hardcore acid jazz fan. Chris Bangs is a big reason why. That’s a very rare breed of producer. There are just a handful that you automatically associate with a particular “sound” or genre, like Chet Atkins and the Nashville sound or Gamble & Huff and the Philly soul sound.

You are so right. I can usually tell if it was produced by him without even looking.

To me, musicians make the best producers. Probably for obvious reasons and some are really good musicians also. I make bad jokes. This has a nice relaxing easy feel to it. Thanks buddy.

Thank you. Although I'm expecting a lot of "never heard of him" with this one.
