North Carolina known as The Tar Heel State, Is the twelfth of the original 13 colonies. Roanoke Island was colonized in 1587, but all of the colonists mysteriously disappeared. The "Lost Colony" was followed by settlers from Virginia in 1660.
Kitty Hawk, is where the Wright brothers first flight happened in 1903.
Motto: "To Be Rather Than To Seem"

Many years ago, we visited Kitty Hawk beach but at the time we did not visit The Wright Brothers Museum. I would like to hopefully return to visit that museum.

yes, the museum is very interesting. It could probably be a day trip for you from Georgia. Where is Toccoa?

@IreneVincent It is in North East Georgia , 5 miles from the South Carolina border. The drive to the coast of North Carolina is farther than it looks. I remember it taking 10 or more hours to drive there.

North Carolina has a lot to offer. Mountains, beaches, pirates, lighthouses, music, history. I lived there for quite a few years.
