I finally got around to opening up my new cast iron skillet. I thought that it was a 14 inch one but apparently I went with the "bigger is better" school of thought and ordered a 16 inch one. It is HUGE. I have no idea what I was thinking. It easily takes up half of the stove top which means that I'll have to have 2 burners on to try to cook with it--or use it primarily outside on the grill and in the oven. I also now have to try to find a place to store it in my already cramped kitchen. I already have a 10 inch Lodge cast iron skillet that I use all the time. It is great and fine for us because it is only the 2 adults living here that I am cooking for. Still, I would like something bigger. . . just not quite as big as what I ordered.

@NJChicaa noperz, reckon not. i got the young'uns cast iron pans 'n such from garage sales. think the most i paid 'twas 50 cents?? does take a bit 'f work to get 'em back 'nto condition most oft. many'd suffered years 'f neglect, with lots 'f rust.

@crazyhorseladycx I don't do garage sales or thrift shops. I don't have the patience to try to find the nugget of gold out of a bunch of garbage. I'm definitely not going to "haggle" with anyone either.

I got this one for like $35 new on Amazon. I didn’t think that was a bad price.

Talk about a big bad boy. You can fry an entire carton of eggs in that one.
