The Artists

A local radio station has a show between 3pm and 5pm on a Friday afternoon where they play music requests on a theme. Two rules apply: 1. The track must be something to get people in the mood for the weekend, and 2. The artist or track must begin with the current letter of the alphabet. People can send an SMS or call into the show with suggestions, and obviously not all suggestions make the cut, for either editorial reasons or for reasons of time. For reasons best known to regular listeners, the station presenter for this show has decided that this coming Friday's show will be dedicated to artists that begin with the word "The", so "Tina Tuner" or "Tom Jones" would be out, but "The Who", "The Undertones" or "The Communards" would be in. Have you a preferred artist beginning with "The" and song that would be appropriate to play on the radio on a Friday afternoon between 3pm and 5pm that meets these two requirements this week? Drop it into the Comments here! Not everyone will be able to access this link to last Friday's podcast of the show, but here it is if you're of a mind to take a trip down the memory lane of songs or artists that begin with the letter "T".
An afternoon of great music and chat ahead of the weekend.

@pgntwo It's a song that I love a lot. Of course when I visited New Orleans, I had a look at this famous house.

@LadyDuck I wonder how it looks now, since the ravages of Hurricane Katrina?

@houda28 I thought the band was called The Beginning - but it's interesting. I hadn't thought about song titles beginning with "The", but I guess it would work.

The show is here, I think The Doors did not feature - but I missed the first 30 mins of the show last Friday, just about to catch up now... Of the suggestions here, The Animals and The Cure featured. The Scaffold, with Lily the Pink, alas, did not...

That sounds like a good way to keep listeners interested, and gets them involved.

I was wondering if The The might pass muster. I doubt they'd let Thelonius Monk get through...

@pgntwo This is cool. Those kind of requests get done here too on some radio stations. It really does make it all the more fun! I'd have to go with The Jacksons!

That is interesting. Of course, there are so many to chose from. Yes, The Rolling Stones could be among them of course.

If I was to suggest one, I might choose "Angie", not sure it's a "Friday Feeling" song though.
One of the two official promo videos for the Rolling Stones' 1973 single "Angie". It reached number 5 in the UK singles chart, and number 1 in the US Billboa...
