When chemo is stopped are you cancer free?

A friend has been going for chemotherapy for breast cancer. Recently the doctor says she should stop coming. She asked me the question above. I told her I'll check online and see what I can discover. Can anyone help? I enjoy all your inputs here on mylot. Wishing all of you a blessed last day of February.

Surely he should have told her and explained everything to her and not leave her like that? She woiuld have to see a Specialist in that field. I would get a second opinion if possible from another Doctor.

I will tell her to get a second opinion or go back to the doctor. He is in a better position to tell her that. But chemotherapy takes a lot of money.

@mydanods Can she get help to pay for her treatment then? Hope she gets someone to help her get over this as its much more treatable than it was years ago.

there may be 2 reasons why the doctor said that: one is the cancer cells have been controlled and eradicated; the other one is the cancer cells cannot be controlled anymore and it has metastasized. i hope the first reason is the reason.

Very weird attitude from a doctor. He is the only person who can tell her what she can expect. She needs to disobey and come back again to have a clear explanation about all her questions about her cancer.

Maybe she was happy that chemotherapy had ended and forgot to ask the doctor. Later, the thought came to her to wonder if her illness would return.
