If you think the bathroom is the most disgusting place in a home guess again. It's time to take another look around your abode. According to studies, there are plenty of gross stuff on common household items which could leave us susceptible to colds or even a life threatening infection. Fortunately 99 percent are not that harmful but why take a chance with the other 1 percent? Germs like E-Coli and Salmonella can be found in many objects in your home. Molds can form and bacteria will grow if items are not properly cleaned. Most recommend a diluted solution of bleach and water as being most effective against germs. Some Of The Worst Offenders 1. Kitchen Faucet- the screens on the facuet remain moist due to the running water which is ideal for bacteria growth. 2. Garbage Disposal- there are more bacteria particles in your kitchen sink than the bathroom toilet. Germs will find their way into the crevices around the rubber stopper on your disposal and grow there. Imagine what can happen if you leave your utensils in the sink and in contact with the drain. 3. Vacuum Cleaner- bacteria and food are sucked into the vacuum and wind up on the brush and vacuum bag. Research has found E. Coli on the brushes of vacuum cleaners which means you can actually spread it around the house when using the appliance. 4. Dish Towel/Rag- research has shown a possiblility of this item being contaminated by a staph bacteria that can cause life threatening skin conditions. Towels/rags are also sources for dangerous E. Coli strains. So, you need to consider cleaning methods where appropriate. Isn't the flu season bad enough? Can you think of other household items which are germ breeders? @Iam_jauntyjen Not to throw the sponge every week, there is a system to remove 99% of the germs from a sponge. Soak the sponge in water (1/4 cup), heat in the microwave on high for 1 minute.

Thanks for that excellent list. We could also add cell phones and TV remotes to that list.

In the public arena, money is supposed to be covered in germs. It is handled so much by all sorts of people.
