Unsuccessful

I was unsuccessful this morning. I went to the bank to open an ATM bank account with a low maintaining balance. I did not research beforehand. I went straight to the queue. There were three ladies assisting customers. I waited around 20 minutes before my turn. I was finally called and told the bank officer what I needed. She asked me my two valid government issued IDs. After two minutes of scanning the forms, she asked for a barangay clearance. And asked where I live. I told her I am not based in this city (I was at my Sister's city when I went to the bank) but I lived here for seven years. And now I am based in Manila. You still need to submit that clearance. Okay. But in the back of my mind, I will open an account in Manila. I went back to my sister's house and told her I was unsuccessful. If only my brother's boss can transfer money on my existing account it will be great.

i was not asked to show 2 government ID's. i just showed my PRC license and my voter's license, when i opened another account in RCBC for another debit card. my previous card was no longer in use because it was terminated already.

I know it is bad that he was not able to get his salary because of this. If only he can transfer to BPI.

I think they only ask if the address on the ID is the provincial address.

Wow that strict huh? and this is why I am not letting go of my Union debit card because it looks like that it's hard to get one now a days.

It's not strict here. In fact, banks are begging people to come and have one

It does not sound easy to open a bank account in your country.

I think because it is their protocol to get a customer that the ID are registered in their city.

@LadyDuck That is cool. No background checking on where you are!

@jobelbojel Her you can open an account no matter where you want. You need to show your ID and it is important that the Bank knows that the money you are depositing is legit. That's it.

That is a lot to go through just to open an account.

It seems so different to open a bank account. Here, you can open one at any bank.
