Today is Dr. Seus' birthday. He was born March, 2,1904. Did you know that he wrote "Green Eggs And Ham" on a bet? His editor, Bennet Cerf bet him he couldn't write a book using just 50 words. He did it!
In World War II he was in the Army and had the job of Commander of the Animation Department of the First Motion Picture Unit of the United States Army Air Forces. Basically he created animated propaganda films. He also drew cartoons for advertisements for such companies as Standard Oil, General Electric and NBC.
For you writers out there-- His first book took 28 tries and he got mighty frustrated. So much so that he nearly burned the draft. But, persistence won out and he is now one of the most successful authors of children's books of all time. He wrote more than 40 books and sold more than half a billion copies.

That book is used for lecturing neophyte telemarketers. Yup that story is the reason why they are persistent.
